Opening ceremony of the twinning project “Support to strengthening fight against trafficking in human beings“

On September 28, 2018 the Ministry of Interior presented the Twinning project “Support to strengthening fight against trafficking in Human Beings” in the Belgrade Hall, palace Serbia.
The objective of this project, worth € 1.000.000,00, financed from the EU pre-accession funds is to improve detection of THB, prevention and protection of victims of Trafficking of Human Beings (THB) through strengthening capacities of the Ministry of Interior, Criminal Police Directorate for efficient coordination with other relevant Institutions (Center for protection of THB victims – Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Policy (MLEVSP); Prosecutors Office) and development of an efficient national referral mechanism. The implementation of the project will last 24 months.
As a result, the institutional framework and organisational capacities of the Criminal Police Directorate and relevant institutions will be analysed and improved. Additionally, the exchange of information and coordination between the relevant institutions will be improved. The staff in the institutions relevant in fighting THB will be further trained to prevent THB and protect the victims of THB and an Early Warning System will be developed in line with EU standards.
The aim of this Twinning project is to meet the accession criteria and implementation of Action Plan Chapter 24 and Chapter 23 through strengthening capacities of relevant institutions to fight against all forms of THB in line with EU best practices.
